Account, members, and plans

How an account works: its admins and moderators, the Plan section, screen packs and extra admins, cancelling, and what happens to rooms when a plan ends.

Last checked against CueStride on 15 October 2026.

An account holds your rooms, events, and the people who run them, on one plan. You can run a show with no account at all, from a room made in one click, and keep it by signing up. An account is what you need for events, branding, paired screens, and a team. Account settings is where it is managed.

The first person to sign in creates the account and is its admin. The header, for an admin, leads between Rooms, Screens, and Sponsors; on a wider screen the header also leads to Account settings, after Sponsors, and on a phone that link moves into the initials menu.

The Plan section

The Plan section names the account’s plan, and with the date it ends when that is set. It lists Rooms, Timers per room, Screens per room, Admins, and Moderators. Timers per room and Screens per room show the allowance only; the others show how many are used out of how many the plan allows, and the rooms count includes disabled rooms. The plan sets each. See the plans for the table, and 3 rooms on Starter for the starting point.

An account with no subscription, which includes one on a one-event pass, sees the paid plans as cards, to buy from, each with steppers for screen packs and extra admins, and on Premium attendee packs, and a billing button that shows the total for the quantities on the card. Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record, and taxes are included at checkout. Once the account has a Paddle customer, on an active plan as well, Manage billing opens Paddle’s portal, for invoices, payment details, and the card on file; a new account has no such button.

Admins and moderators

In Members, an admin invites people by email, as an admin or a moderator.

  • An admin does everything in the account: rooms, events, sponsors, screens, branding, members, and the plan.
  • A moderator sends messages and flashes the screens, in only the rooms an admin ticks for them. See Moderators.

To remove someone, choose the remove icon beside them, then Remove member. Their open pages lose access at once, and they can no longer sign in to the account. You cannot remove yourself. Admin and moderator seats come from the plan.

Screen packs and extra admins

Pro and Premium can be bought with extras: screen packs, which raise the screens each room accepts, and extra admins; Enterprise does not show the steppers. While you have an active subscription, Account settings shows each with a stepper. The screen stepper moves by that plan’s pack size, up to the screen cap, and its hint says how many are included; the admin stepper moves one admin at a time, up to that plan’s admin cap. When you change one, you see what the plan costs now, what it will cost, and what is charged or credited today for the rest of the period, as Paddle works them out. You confirm with Update the plan, and the new limits apply at once, with no restart. The editor is absent while a cancellation is pending. The admins cannot go below the admins you already have. The extras end with the plan.

Premium also sells attendee packs for the attendee page. Each adds 150 attendees to every event of the account, up to 9,900 on each event. Their stepper, Attendees per event, moves a pack at a time and is priced and confirmed as the others are. Fewer packs are never refused: phones already reading carry on, and new ones wait for room.

Cancel a plan

Choose Cancel plan in the Plan section. Before you confirm, CueStride shows what would change, dated:

  • the rooms that would be disabled, and the rooms that would keep only some of their timers;
  • the scheduled sessions and the events on or after that date;
  • the logo, theme, events, and screen limits that would change, and, when they apply, that sponsor screens will show only the event’s name and logo, with the sponsors kept, and that a session running at that moment in a room or timer that stops, stops.

The sessions it lists are scheduled after the end, in those rooms and timers; an event already underway is listed as ending mid-event. It says to delete older rooms and timers first, so the ones the show needs remain: the newest are the ones that stop.

A cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you already paid for, and you can undo it until then with the Keep button, named for the plan. When Paddle has declined a refund and renewal is still off, that button is hidden and Account settings offers Turn renewal back on, which keeps the plan. A one-event pass ends on its date with the same notices and neither button. While it is pending, Account settings and the Rooms page say when it ends and what it will do, the Rooms page marks each room that will be disabled, and an affected room’s controller says what happens to it and when.

When a plan has fewer rooms or timers than you have

If a plan ends, or you move to one with lower limits, nothing is deleted.

  • Rooms. If the plan allows fewer rooms than the account holds, the newest rooms beyond that are disabled. A disabled room refuses every command and every screen except deletion, its screens and controller say so, and its scheduled starts do not fire.
  • Timers. If it allows fewer timers per room than a room holds, the newest timers beyond that are disabled. Next, Previous, and a linked handoff do not cue one of these timers, and a scheduled start never reaches it. The controller marks it Over plan and leaves Edit and Duplicate off, and the room’s agenda leaves it out. The row can still be dragged, and Delete stays. A timer that is loaded when it becomes disabled gives way to the nearest working one: the next working timer, otherwise the last working one before it.
  • Getting them back. An upgrade brings them back at once, with no restart. Deleting a working room or timer does too: it brings back the oldest disabled one, and only as many as the new allowance covers.
  • Branding and events. Your logo and theme settings are kept. Screens show the wordmark and no logo when the plan has no branding, and the default look when it has no themes; the saved theme comes back with the plan. A move to Pro keeps the logo and the wordmark choice. Without sponsor screens, those screens show the event’s name and logo and the sponsors are kept. Events are kept too, and the board and agenda come back with the plan.

Refunds

A full refund of the current period’s subscription payment ends that plan at once. A full refund of an earlier period, or of add-ons bought on their own, is recorded and the plan keeps running. A full refund of a plan change’s prorated charge switches the subscription back only when that change is the latest one and the subscription is still on the plan it moved to; otherwise the plan stays and it is switched back in Paddle by hand, with nothing shown in Account settings for that case. A refund Paddle declines is the notice Account settings does show: it says the request was declined and that no money was returned, with Turn renewal back on when renewal is still off, and Buy a plan again when the plan has ended. The refund policy has the terms: see refunds.
