Moderators
Give a producer or a stage manager a page that sends messages and flashes the screens, in only the rooms you choose, without handing over the controller.
Last checked against CueStride on 20 October 2026.
A moderator is a member of your account who can talk to the stage and nothing else. They sign in, open one of the rooms you gave them, and get a page with the room’s preview, a Flash screen button, and the room’s messages. They can show a message, hide it, and flash the screens. They cannot start, stop, or change a timer, and they cannot change the room’s settings or links. Hand this to a producer, a stage manager, or a room host who should be able to say “Five minutes” without being able to cut a speaker off.
Invite a moderator
Only an account’s admins invite people.
- Open Account settings and find Members.
- Type the person’s email under Email to invite.
- Under Role, choose moderator.
- Choose Invite. CueStride sends them an invitation, and tells you it did.
The person signs in with that email. Until you give them a room, they see none.
Give them a room
- Open the Rooms page.
- On each room the moderator should run, tick their name in the room’s Moderators row.
A moderator sees only the rooms ticked for them. The row appears once the account has a moderator. Untick a name to take the room away: their open page closes, saying access was removed. The row is hidden on a disabled room, so a name cannot be ticked there.
What a moderator does
From the Rooms page, they open a room and land on the moderator page, marked moderator. A moderator who opens a room’s address while signed out is asked to sign in, and comes back to the room. A room you haven’t given them says so, with Back to Rooms, and never shows its timer.
- Preview. The timer stage, live. It leaves out the account’s logo, so it is not exactly the speaker’s screen when a logo is set.
- The room’s status. Under the preview, the timer the room holds and whether it is Ready, Live, or Paused, as the controller marks it; how late the room runs, such as Running 4 min late, the way the backstage board says it; and what is next, with its start. On a phone the status and Messages come first, and the preview and Flash screen follow.
- Flash screen. Blinks the digits three times on the timer screens, where a shown message also appears. The room agenda, the board, the event agenda, the backstage board, and sponsor screens do neither.
- Messages. The room’s prepared messages. They can write new ones, edit, delete, and reorder them, show or hide one, and flash a message, which blinks the message already showing three times; it stays disabled when none is showing. A message reaches the timer screens the moment it is shown, the same screens Flash screen reaches.
A moderator’s page counts toward the room’s screen limit, and its header shows the room’s screens against that limit, the same count as the controller’s. A full room refuses it: the controls stay up, the status says Full, and the page tries again on its own.
A moderator does not see Sponsors, Account settings, or Screens in the header. A moderator who opens the Screens page is told that screens are an admin’s.
Seats
A moderator takes a moderator seat. In Account settings, the Moderators figure in the Plan section reads seats used out of seats allowed. Each plan allows a number: 1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, and 10 on Premium. When they are all used, remove a moderator, or move to a plan with more.
Remove a moderator
In Members, choose the remove icon beside the person, then Remove member. Their open pages lose access at once and they can no longer sign in to the account.
